When Rebecca Orange and her best friend Maggie launch their new detective agency at Castle Atwood, their very first client comes calling—a worried Mrs. Henshaw whose missing parrot just happens to recite Shakespeare. What starts as a simple search quickly spirals into a mix of laughter, village gossip, and puzzling clues. Step into the enchanting country of Monrovia with this delightful introduction to the Castle Cozy Mystery series, where animal-trainer-turned-sleuth Rebecca Orange balances mystery-solving, a parade of eccentric animals, and her budding romance with the Duke.

THE OTHERS (working title)

I've been pretty busy this past year and haven't done much writing since I published my last book, Pioneering Secrets.

I've started a new novel about a PhD student working on a dissertation about folklore and the modern world. As he travels the country meeting different people and hearing about local legends, he slowly evolves from skeptic into open-minded believer. It doesn't take him long to realize the stories he's researching are leading him into darker territory, and dangers he hadn't anticipated.

This book should be out sometime this year. Sorry I don't have a more definite timeline, but I'll keep you updated as it gets closer to completion.

AUTHOR TIP #1

Dialogue Words of Wisdom

How to write dialogue that is engaging, relatable, and rings true.

On the floating island of Volturnus, sixteen-year-old Effie Strait longs for a freedom she cannot grasp. In a society ruled by enigmatic Celestials, only the Gifted can become True Pilots and bond with the mighty Leviathans—an honour her older sister, Vanna, has achieved as a celebrated dragoon and lieutenant. Effie’s ambition intensifies when her friend Kai discovers his powers, drawing her into the perilous intrigues of the Patrician elite and the forbidden jungle rituals. Meanwhile, Vanna is swept into a rebellion that reveals the Celestials’ hidden agenda and forces her to choose between loyalty and justice. As the sisters’ paths diverge and war looms, their bond is tested by betrayal, sacrifice, and the relentless pursuit of ambition.

AUTHOR TIP #3

Fantasy World-building

Creating worlds in fantasy stories that will engage your readers and keep them reading.

Violet Hartwell expected her six-week stay at Sunset Manor for physical therapy to be uneventful, but events quickly proved otherwise. When the retirement home's notorious bingo caller Harold Finch is discovered dead with a bingo cage on his head, most residents chalk it up to an unfortunate mishap, yet Violet suspects foul play. Armed with her trusty vintage purse and a determined spirit, she enlists a quirky group of fellow residents—including Frank with his high-tech mobility scooter, Agnes the theatrical conversationalist, and Dolores, an ex-Vegas showgirl—to investigate. Their adventures range from sneaky surveillance to creative sabotage, showing that even seniors can make excellent detectives. This witty mystery, the first in the Sunset Manor series, is ideal for fans of cozy whodunits and eccentric retirement home sleuths.
